Here is a delicious little short written/directed/produced by Portland’s own Jacqueline Gault of Jackal Films about revenge. I had forgotten how truly brilliant this piece was until I saw it again, starring Brynn Baron and Shelly Lipkin. Outstanding!!!

It’s been a while since I’ve done any work with Portland Monthly Magazine so I was pretty excited to get the call to work on January’s issue… the 50 Most Influential People in Portland. My schedule was nutty at the time so I was only able to schedule a few days in but met some really rad Portlanders who are doing pretty significant things.

Andy Batt shot the images and I styled, doing hair and makeup. Here are my top 3…

My first short film doing makeup! – “Overdrawn”

Back in 2009, I decided I wanted to do more than model tests and fun portfolio shoots. I wanted to be a “real” makeup artist, working on commercial and film endeavors. One day I got my opportunity. A favorite client of mine contacted me about joining up with them for the 48 hour film festival, being head of makeup. I had no idea what that meant but I was sure excited about the prospect of doing makeup for a REAL film, even if it was a little short.

I showed up, eager and excited and met some really cool people, got to play with makeup looks on men and women, and learned a great deal about the whole movie process, set etiquette, supplies I was sorely lacking, and running the long race. It was a really positive experience for me and it started me down a road that I am so grateful to be on.

Here is our little film. It’s brilliant! The writing is outstanding, the acting well done, and the overall package turned out quite funny! Enjoy!!!

I love when I get to do a project that challenges me, inspires me, stretches me, and causes me to reach deep inside myself to pull out the best of the myself and bring my “A” game. This shoot was definitely that.

It was with the greatest production team. Andy Batt Studios dream team, Andy Batt as camera man and Therese Geitler as producer, had things running in tip top shape. I was hired to do makeup and the beautiful and uber talented Eva Lohse assisted me in doing hair. Casey Boyd, an amazingly talented wardrobe stylist made the cast look stunning as well. Together, it was a match made in heaven and the results were simply out of this world.

Simply AMAZING!!!!!!!!! A big THANK YOU to every person involved in this shoot to make it so epic… the models, the assistants in every realm, and especially to Andy and Therese, who deserves the biggest shout out!

2011 Montavilla Sewing Centers

I love working with repeat clients, especially when I’ve gotten to know them on a more personal level and see who they really are. I was excited with Kirsten Klug of Bamboo River Press called me for a new Montavilla Sewing Centers commercial. Last years was so much fun that I jumped at the prospect of doing another.

Yet again, a great experience with both Kirsten and Fir as well as great talent. Here is the commercial for your viewing enjoyment!

Haunting of Sunshine Girl

A month or so ago I was hired to do makeup for a friend’s daughter for her web series. Sunshine has her own youtube series called The Haunting of Sunshine Girl. By word of mouth only, this little series has gone completely viral and now has hundreds of subscribers and gets a ton of hits per day. Its pretty amazing and they are just continuing to grow and are now even working on raising funds for a short film. It’s pretty wild! Check it out!

A few weeks ago I worked on a collaborative project with Levy Moroshan and Aimee Jadore and a few other peeps in conjunction with Betsey Johnson Portland that was really inspiring and lovely. It was based on Anne Leibovitz and her Alice in Wonderland story. We had 2 custom built sets and 3 beautiful models and 7-8 amazing dresses.

The result was absolute divine magic!

The story is forthcoming but here is a little teaser of one of the loveliest beauty models in Portland… Ms. Emma Pellett. I do love her features!

Ryonet and UV makeup

Sometimes I get hired to do projects that simply thrill me to no end! This project was one of them!

I was contacted to do a job for Ryonet Corporation that involved drawing circuit boards and geometric shapes on faces in UV makeup. YES!!! It sounded so fun!!! I spent hours drafting out face charts, doing research, playing with colors. It was more than ready when the job arrived!

The job was truly awesome! The people were super cool to work with and the concept was RAD and it looked really cool! Here are some teaser images and the cyber blog… and the VIDEO!!!!

Wow… I am way behind on updating this blog. I swear I have the best intentions but life and work just take over and then I look and its months later!

A few months ago I did a shoot with Matthew Brush and a fit model for Nike named Kerby. The purpose was to get some lifestyle and fitness images for her book and for my portfolio. I had never worked with Matthew but was really looking forward to collaborating with him and getting some of his work in my book. The overall experience was really good and he was a dream to work with. I love that he let me do my thing and trusted me with doing “lifestyle” makeup which is really pretty light and basic.
